I loved Yellowface so much - my top book of 2024 so far. Entertaining, gripping but also so insightful on the publishing industry and its dark sides. Great review, and I love your whole concept of bread and books!
I was lucky enough to pick up a hardback of Yellowface at a hotel in Glasgow earlier this year. I left a paperback version of Still Me in its place. I felt silly lugging it around (after all, who takes a hardback on a plane when every ounce matters?) but I was so glad I did because it kept me thoroughly entertained while I waited for seven hours at London airport. June was so sad and lonely. I felt quite sorry for her.
I've just finished Everyone in this room will someday be dead by Emily Austin, which has similar themes about loneliness and anxiety and really enjoyed it too.
Hi Marg, I definitely relate to lugging around hardcover books when travelling even though I know it's not practical! Once I also brought a hardcover on a hiking trip but cut my toothbrush in half to save weight and my siblings had a field day teasing me with that one haha. I haven't read the Emily Austin book but I'm going to put it on my list :)
I love the toothbrush story. I didn’t pack any hair conditioner (too heavy) and resisted buying any, so walked around with hair like straw for three weeks, but I had a book!
Thank you for such a detailed and thoughtful review of Yellowface. I’d seen a fair amount of mentions and was curious what it was really like. I appreciate your review format, too!

Aw thanks so much! I loved it too, it made me so anxious but I couldn't stop reading lol
Wow I need a challah bun immediately, those look amazing!
They were very tasty! :)

Those buns look delicious! I am still yet to read Yellowface but every review I read of it makes me more and more interested too. It sounds wild haha
They were delicious! And yes it's a wild book for sure, really engaging but not relaxing haha
